Introductory Collaborative Practice Training
The Introductory Collaborative Practice Training teaches the interdisciplinary model of Collaborative Practice, enabling differing professional disciplines to work together to assist in separating families.
How to Become a CDV Professional Member:
Step 1 – Compete the following required training to become a CDV Collaborative Professional in your profession.
For Lawyers, the required training is as follows:

Two-day (or longer) basic interdisciplinary Collaborative training that meets or exceeds IACP Minimum Standards,
-
Five days of interest-based mediation training or three days of interest-based mediation training and two days of principled negotiation training, AND
-
Member in good standing with the Law Society of BC
For Financial Specialists, the required training is as follows:
-
Two-day (or longer) basic multi-disciplinary Collaborative training that meets or exceeds IACP Minimum Standards,

Three-day interest-based mediation training, AND
-
Possess professional liability insurance.
For Mental Health Specialists, the required training is as follows:

Two-day (or longer) basic multi-disciplinary Collaborative training that meets or exceeds IACP Minimum Standards,

Three-day interest-based mediation training,
-
Master's and/or Ph.D. degree in counselling, psychology, and or social work, AND
-
Possess professional liability insurance.
Step 2 – Review the IACP's Standards & Ethics Guidelines
Step 3 – Join as a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP). Make sure you select Collaborative Divorce Vancouver as your "Primary Practice Group" to receive the IACP's USD $145 discounted rate.
Where to obtain the Basic Collaborative Training approved by the IACP:
BC Collaborative Roster Society The BC Collaborative Roster Society does an annual Basic Multi-disciplinary training. We will update our website as soon as we know the official dates, but it usually happens in the first half of the year.

To take any mediation courses at the Justice Institute, you must take their prerequisite, Foundations of Collaborative Conflict Resolution.
