I believe that for most families, the legal issues between separating couples are best dealt with out of court. My experience in court has taught me that giving up control over the outcome to a judge rarely leaves people satisfied. While there are often compromises in a collaborative process, people are usually happier with the outcomes, and relationships can be preserved. I began my career working in corporate and technology law but quickly sought more of a human connection to the work I did. I trained in collaborative law and mediation in 2002 and 2003. I then worked in the areas of family law, parent/teen mediation, and eventually child protection law as counsel for the Director of Child, Family and Community Service. I left the full-time practice of child protection law, but wishing to keep my focus on helping people and children, refocused my practice on general family law and mediation. I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree (English major) from the University of Calgary in 1996 and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Alberta in 1999. I reside in Vancouver with my husband and two children and enjoy cycling, walks with friends and family, and teaching yoga.

I am a family and fertility lawyer as well as a family law mediator and collaborative divorce practitioner. I practice exclusively in the areas of family and fertility law and have represented clients at provincial court, supreme court, and the Court of Appeal. In addition to my family law practice, I am fortunate to work with families in the areas of reproductive technology, adoption, and parentage (including polyamorous and multi-parent families). I am committed to helping my clients transition through life's major changes (marriage, separation, family building) by providing thoughtful and savvy counsel in a safe and empathetic environment. I believe that the collaborative process offers a unique space that allows families to truly resolve their matters as they go through the difficult process of separation and divorce. My hope is to employ my expertise and creativity in a manner that will result in out-of-court processes that will lead to better outcomes for parties, children, and families. If you are unsure about which process is best suited for your matter, please contact me for a consultation. I am a regular presenter on family and fertility law matters at seminars hosted by the CBA, CLEBC, TLABC, PBLI, and CFAS. I am the current co-chair, and the founding chair of the CBABC fertility law subsection. I am also an active member of her communities and has served on a number of boards and organizations including the City of Vancouver 2SLGBTQIA+ Advisory Committee and was the former board chair of Out on Screen. I am a member of Fertility Law BC, CBA, FACL and TLABC. She recently served on the Parentage Law Reform Committee through the BC Law Institute. I was called to the bar in 2008. After spending a few years in the criminal bar, I have been practicing exclusively in the family law since 2013.

For over twenty years, I have been in clinical practice helping individuals, couples, and families improve the quality of their lives and relationships. It continues to be a privilege to walk with people through challenging spots in their life and witness them getting their lives back on track through our therapeutic conversations and through their own supported actions. I know in my bones that change is possible. As someone who has gone through my own separation, I also know first hand how disappointing, devastating, and embarrassing it can be to end a marriage. That being said, the end can be handled in a way that is fair, kind, and that keeps your values at the centre as you navigate a stressful chapter in life. The collaborative process is for couples who want to figure out a way of disentangling their lives without the unnecessary expense of a combative legal process. The collaborative team is here to support each of you in creating agreements that address the issues that arise in separation whether that be legal, financial, or co-parenting concerns. There is a lot to sort through and you don’t have to face this challenging process alone. My clinical experience supporting youth illustrates the way a divorce is handled is more negatively impactful on children than the end itself. If you have children, you can model to your kids how to manage the end of a relationship, which will help protect them from future struggles. The collaborative divorce team is here to help and I invite you to contact me if you would like support from someone who has both the clinical and personal experience of navigating the end well. It really can be done differently. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a certificate in conflict resolution from the Justice Institute of BC. I work virtually throughout the Province of BC and have my own private practice office in Vancouver.

I support families navigating divorce with compassion and expertise. As both a divorce coach and child specialist, I help parents and children move through this transition with care and understanding. Drawing on nearly a decade of experience working with families, along with specialized training in collaborative divorce, attachment theory, and family systems, I create a safe space where all family members feel heard and respected. My work focuses on strengthening parent-child connections, addressing children's needs during family transitions, and helping parents develop co-parenting strategies that prioritize their children's wellbeing. I hold a Master of Counselling and have completed specialized training in Child-Centered Play Therapy and parent-child attachment interventions. Whether working directly with children, coaching parents, or supporting collaborative meetings between divorcing couples, I bring both professional skill and genuine warmth to help families build healthy foundations for their changing family structure.
